I booked with Sean for my daughter’s theater headshots. It was easy to book my appointment online and he had a great special that was $69 for the session and one image. We were running late and he was super gracious about it. He has a very professional and comfortable photography studio in his basement with a separate room for changing etc and really impressive equipment. In about a half an hour, he took so many amazing shots of my daughter that I ended up buying two extra. He was so, so knowledgeable. He told her how to stand, how to move her head, had her do mouth exercises to relax her smile, pinned her shirt and hair to make it look best and importantly made her super comfortable. Her sent me the amazing images within 24 hours as promised. I’d use him for anything - he is wonderful. ~ Courtney

I reached out to Sean because I was hoping for pictures that would reflect how amazing I feel at 44. I went from being a Mom who hated having pictures taken, to having a Fine Art Boudoir session that made me feel beautiful. I did it with a friend, and it was so much fun! Getting married during a pandemic was interesting to say the least, but having Sean as our photographer truly made a difference. From making sure our engagement session was everything we wanted, even when we were delayed by stay at home orders, to bearing with us when our whole day changed due to our reception venue canceling a month out. He even went the extra mile to help us search for another venue. When you hire Sean you definitely get more than just an amazing photographer. We actually live in Alexandria, and decided to have our ceremony at a bed & breakfast in Waynesboro, VA (right outside of Charlottesville). Although, we knew our ceremony would only be myself, my fiancee and the officiant, we knew we wanted an experienced photographer who would produce beautiful pictures. SEAN DID NOT DISAPPOINT! From beginning to end, he listened to what we wanted, scheduled video chats with us so that we could make decisions and was extremely professional throughout the entire process. I have used Sean again for the 3rd time for my daughter's wedding. He did her engagements and wedding (as part of the package) and I will keep using him again and again because he did just an amazing job of capturing this big day. Not only is he affordable in comparison with others in the area, but Sean is a professional in every way. He has a special gift to know what lighting needs to be used and all of the photos just turned out spectacular. Sean Thurston Photography is by far a must select for any of your photography needs / requirements in this area. Sean took the time to explain the process, help us choose a setting / location with the perfect time of day, recommendations on what to wear (we asked), but also took the time to make the photo shoot natural not staged. His customization of the photos into finalized products left my wife and I in awe and asking to book a fall shoot for just us. We puchased a personalized album and many customized pictures with different styles and framing. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!! Sean did a great job and was very attentive during a last minute request to photograph pieces of by grandfather's woodworking. He and I coordinated completely remotely. He worked directly with my grandmother to schedule a time for the shoot. He came initially to scope things out then returned shortly thereafter to take the photos which were posted very promptly to his website. When my grandmother was having a hard time accessing the photos online, he provided a thumb drive with the images for her to access. My grandmother was impressed by the work product and enjoyed working with Sean (as did I). I would definitely recommend him to others. ~ Zane L

We couldn’t be happier with Sean! Both our engagement shoot and our wedding photos came back absolutely beautiful, and he made the experience so laid back and fun. During our wedding, Sean was more than just a photographer- he was checking on me to make sure I was comfortable and not getting overwhelmed. My first time being photographed professionally. Sean did an amazing job and made us feel so comfortable. This was our first time working with a professional bit it wont be my last! And as long as Sean is around he will always be our go to guy for photos! We absolutely love every single photo he captured of us. I was very nervous cause usually when other people take my photos i dont like them mainly cause of angles, i was a little worried when sean got down low for some of our shots but i was not disappointed one bit when it came to previewing the pictures. I came across Sean's work when I was looking for someone to do family pictures, and I loved how everyone looked so dynamic and alive in the photos he took.
